Claudia Baumann

Claudia Baumann is a junior researcher at the Center for Area Studies, an interdisciplinary and interdepartmental research institute at the University of Leipzig. In her PhD project she approaches universities as „Portals of Globalization“, places where the „global“ is particularly dense and where processes of globalization can emerge, accelerate and be controlled. The study is based on the examination of three universities: Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia), Jawaharlal Nehru University (India) and Hanyang University (Korea). Since May 2014 Claudia Baumann is also the programme coordinator of the joint Master and PhD programme in Global Studies (with a special emphasis on Peace and Security in Africa).
